Ruth Jackson - Designer

Ruth Jackson designing for new surf/skate brand 'BrakeBurn' it's fun fresh and slightly flirty, pastel colour ice creams and sketch vintage cars are the calling for the women's collection for Brakeburn's first summer season.

Ruth Jackson first went to Art (Buckinghamshire) College in 1992 where she studied Graphic Design and Advertising.
She came away with a First and was quickly offered a job by advertising agency WCRS in London.

She worked in several of London’s top ad agencies producing award-winning work for Clarks shoes and Discovery Channel amongst others.

She then left advertising and London and moved to Edinburgh where she went back to college (Edinburgh College of Art) to do study Jewellery and Silversmithing under the inspirational Dorothy Hogg.

Three years later (and another First) she emerged to start work as a jeweller.   It went well with many top galleries taking her work but something else was afoot.
The big bag of drawings, paintings and illustrations she had accumulated were in hot demand. The work she had shown at her Degree show sold out and people just kept telling her they loved it.

Eventually it was friend and star food photographer, Myles New (mylesnew.com) that coaxed her towards the commercial light.
