Ruth Jackson - Designer

Ruth Jackson designing for new surf/skate brand 'BrakeBurn' it's fun fresh and slightly flirty, pastel colour ice creams and sketch vintage cars are the calling for the women's collection for Brakeburn's first summer season.

Ruth Jackson first went to Art (Buckinghamshire) College in 1992 where she studied Graphic Design and Advertising.
She came away with a First and was quickly offered a job by advertising agency WCRS in London.

She worked in several of London’s top ad agencies producing award-winning work for Clarks shoes and Discovery Channel amongst others.

She then left advertising and London and moved to Edinburgh where she went back to college (Edinburgh College of Art) to do study Jewellery and Silversmithing under the inspirational Dorothy Hogg.

Three years later (and another First) she emerged to start work as a jeweller.   It went well with many top galleries taking her work but something else was afoot.
The big bag of drawings, paintings and illustrations she had accumulated were in hot demand. The work she had shown at her Degree show sold out and people just kept telling her they loved it.

Eventually it was friend and star food photographer, Myles New (mylesnew.com) that coaxed her towards the commercial light.

Jodie also wore the same Iron Fist 'All Star' platforms in LA late last year. Jodie-Marsh   Jodie's fiery red hair matched the american stripes on the shoes, a good fashion choice as she is in America for much of the series.

Cartoon Couture.

So Delevingne has done it again, Cara was seen earlier in the month sporting a Bart Simpson crop jumper and accessorising with a set of killer abs.

It's chilly Cara get a coat on!  article-0-19020C9B000005DC-147_634x669

Cara them went on to 'Love' magazine to strike a pose, very different from her latest Burberry  campaign!

It must be great to wear what you want and no one bat an eyelid, if we went down the local shop they'd think we'd gone crazy especially with spongebob tagging along.

Cartoon Couture has become a bigger thing in the past couple of seasons especially in London, mixed in with grunge and alternative styles and trends, graphics, anime, art and graffiti are often seen on models on breaks and when they're jet setting around the world.

Frankie Said Yes!

The Saturday's star Frankie Sandford got engaged on Monday after her boyfriend of three years - footballer Wayne Bridge popped the question.

Frankie and Wayne we wish you a lifetime of happiness! Congrats :D

Ashtrays and Heartbreaks

So Snoop 'Lion' is back on the music scene with Miss Miley Cyrus (Before we go any further voice your opinion on 'Snoop Dogg's' new name on our Facebook page where we're holding a pole to see what everyone prefers)

So anyway.... this new track 'Ashtrays and heartbreaks' has so far not got anyone in the music industry overly excited. Miley fans are going crazy as she has finally released something new, after her break from 'the scene.' It's great to hear Miley's vocals they're so raw and undisturbed and we love her vocal style. Without Cyrus this track would in our opinion be rather dull. The title isn't exactly enticing and we're just not fans of Snoop Dogg's rebrand to 'Snoop Lion' - What is that!?
We don't know either.
Anyway Have a listen for yourselves and let us know what you think of the track! Comment, Tweet us or let us know on Facebook. Feel free to tell us we're wrong as being right for the majority of the time is somewhat exhausting- we kid of course :P Have a great day y'all!

The song we just can't leave alone.

Peace's debut Album 'In Love' was released a few weeks ago and we just can't put it down. Have a listen to our favorite song 'Wraith' and then watch the video, the video is a bit PG but it's all in the name of descriptive art!

and here is the descriptive art...

We love the band's style, music, look, feel, EVERYTHING and we love this video it's fair to say it's been on repeat ALOT.

We're gutted that they've sold out of tickets for the Birmingham O2. *cries*

Here are all of Peace's details.

Paying Respects - The Iron Lady.

Yesterday brought the sad news that

Margaret Thatcher

had died following a stroke, age 87 at the re-known Ritz hotel in London, UK. Maggy

Thatcher , who was the first woman to be a prime minister shaped Britain, lead and succeeded within a 'Man's World'

We all at ISWDYS have the deepest condolences to her family and friends.

It really disheartened and made us rather angry at some of the uncalled for, insensitive  and down right rude comments that were circulating on social media.

Margaret Thatcher played a massive part in British politics, culture and many of the things we take for granted today in the modern world are because of her.

Political views aside, it's not really necessary to complain about things that happened 40 years ago when someone has just passed away, it's just all too easy to sit behind a computer screen and spout.

Margaret Thatcher had a family, whom have  just lost the core of their world, if you lost a family member you wouldn't appreciate people being derogatory regardless of what career choices they may have made. Please all think before you speak, text, tweet and type.

  Reflection time really.
Lots of love, Life's too short.

Behind the Debauchery - Vice Magazine

Behind the Debauchery
A 'Spring Breakers' scrapbook.

Words and photos by Annabel Mehran

I've known Harmony Korine for many years; we've been friends through thick and thin, good times and bad. I feel like every element of spring breakers was him creating an environment where people felt really open and safe- perhaps so they were comfortable going crazy (in a fun way). The fact that he bought the cast together- James Franco, Gucci Mane, Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and his wife, Rachel - was a sign this movie was going to be very special. And i think the ATL twins was him recognising that there were a physical manifestation of what the film is about. They were so clear about their desires: Drinking, double penetrating women and doing drugs. It was all out in the open with them, just like the movie. I'm happy to share with the world some of my favorite behind the scenes photos, along with a few captions that will provide some context for what the hell was happening on this crazy set.

one of my favorite photos of Rachel Korine. She is a huge fan of Gucci Mane and while he can be difficult to read I think he is a big fan of hers too, I mean who wouldn't be? She's crochets!

I have never seen kids get crazier on water and lemonade in my life. That energy on set that day was intense.

You know just your typical 4am popsicle! This was a long night and killing time between takes with Vanessa and Ashley involved lots of high jinks. Dance offs, sing alongs... you get the idea.

  Lyrics:

[2x]

Hey, how ya doin'? Sorry you can't get through
Why don't you leave your name and your number?
I will get back to you (ooh)

Ain't got no time for what you think can be described as love
I've cut your hold on me, you're missing me, I've had enough
It's been so long since you have treated me like I deserved

So long, baby, I'm gone
You can leave a message for me after the tone

You called, I missed it
You called, I missed it,
You called, and I missed it,
Never get back in, tired of listenin'

[2x]
Hey, how ya doin'? Sorry you can't get through
Why don't you leave your name and your number?
I will get back to you

[Perrie:]
I'm through will wish the things with you and me could be so good
Time to wake up or no make-ups can't make me a fool
Too much history, now it comes down to one thing

So long, baby, I'm gone
you can leave a message for me after the tone (oh!)

You called, I missed it
You called, I missed it,
You called, and I missed it,
Never get back in, tired of listenin'

[2x]
Hey, how ya doin'? Sorry you can't get through
Why don't you leave your name and your number (number)?
I will get back to you (will get back to you)

Ah, ah, ah,
Ah, ah, ah,
Ah, ah, ah.

You called, I missed it
You called, I missed it,
You called, and I missed it,
Never get back in, tired of listenin' (no!)

Hey, how ya doin'? Sorry you can't get through
Why don't you leave your name and your number (number)?
I will get back to you (hey, yeah!)

Hey, how ya doin'? Sorry you can't get through (sorry you can't get through)
Why don't you leave your name and your number?
I will get back to you (will get back to you)

(Never get back, never gonna get back)
Ah, ah, ah,
(Never get back, never gonna get back)
Number
(Never get back, never gonna get back)
Ah, ah, ah,
(Never get back, never gonna get back)
Number

Never get back to you

(The number you have dialed has been changed)

Oh Holy Mother of Gomez

Oh Holy Mother of Gomez!
Selena Gomez has released her new single ' Come and get it ' TODAY. One day earlier than the predicted release day.

This new single has a new sound- and we like it- it's slower than her previous anthems like 'Who Says' and 'Year without rain' however it is also a different genre and tempo to the earlier illegal release of what is said to be another single 'Rule The World' off Selena's up and coming fourth album.

Selena's voice has matured and now is not appearing the be working with 'The Scene' any longer - the once Disney scarlet is all grown up what with Spring Breakers being a change of direction and becoming a stand alone music artist Miss Gomez has got it going on and we're all ready to come and get it.

Selena Gomez 'Come and Get It' lyrics

[chorus]
When you ready come and get it
Na na na (x3)

You ain’t gotta worry it’s an open invitation
I’ll be sittin’ right here real patient
All day all night I’ll be waitin’ standby
Can’t stop because I love it, hate the way I love you
All day all night maybe I’m addicted for life, no lie.

I’m not too shy to show I love you, I got no regrets.
I love you too much, much to hide you, this love ain’t finished yet.
This love ain’t finished yet…So baby whenever you’re ready…

[chorus]
When you ready come and get it
Na na na (x3)

You got the kind of love that I want, let me get that.
And baby once I get it I’m yours no take backs.
I’m gon’ love you for life I ain’t leaving your side
Even if you knock it ain’t no way to stop it
Forever you’re mine baby I’m addicted no lie

I’m not too show to show I love you, I got no regrets.
So baby whenever you’re ready…..

[chorus]
When you ready come and get it
Na na na (x3)

This love will be the death of me, but I know I’ll die happily
I’ll know I’ll know I’ll know
Because you love me so…Yeah!

[chorus]
When you ready come and get it
Na na na (x3)

When you ready come and get it

Leather on Leather and a little of Lily Collins

Leather and black are a big deal for this summers fashion season and the celebs are hot on the summer trends heels, showcasing their tastes and styles for all to see, the latest star to be bang on trend is Lily Collins, who earlier this week attended comic-con in a black leather on leather ensemble with face shape flattering soft highlighting make-up and deep red lipstick.

The actress let her brunette hair hang loose to soften the vamped up harsh fashion statement, the lip colour choice also aided the softness of the look, keeping it on beauty trend, relative and feminine. The soft tone combination of the long sleeve shirt made lily look casual with a hint of professionalism.
COMIC CON 2
Lily grabbed attention at comic con for all the right reasons, note that lily used one main colour : Black and used one statement material: Leather. She didn't detract from the style with intricate accessories or colours that would not blend correctly; i.e if Lily had used a pink gloss or light pink lip colour the look would not have appeared so powerful, or deliver such a 'I have arrived' statement.
We particularly love the demure silver that runs down Lily's jacket and stiletto heel. These little touches really make the outfit well rounded and matching.
comic con 3

The use of black nail polish on lily's pale skin was a fantastic way to add contrasting colour without detracting from the outfit.
Comic Con
The choice of pointed toe shoes help keep the feminne look yet keeps the colour balance in control.
And that is our little round up of Miss Collin's comic-con leather ensemble, if you liked it please like the post, reblog to share with your friends or follow us on Twitter and give us a little 'Like' on Facebook and leave us a comment with what you would like us to cover on our blog!

Have a great day!

The Breakup that did wonders

We came across a great little piece earlier in the WESC's 'Superlative Conspiracy' magazine that we thought we'd share with you guys and girls.
Words By: Danielle Krasse
Photos:[Cover and Story] By: Frederik Etoall
Make-Up By: Anna Branson
Hair By: Johnny Stuntz
Icona pop front cover - wesc
Front cover of 'Superlative Conspiracy'
Sometimes love goes wrong and that is just right.  That's basically what happened and what lead to the creation of ICONA POP: a bad breakup that made Aino and Caroline form a band overnight, creating music and quickly gaining popularity and recognition worldwide. With an image of being tough as hell and liberatingly free individuals who just dont give a S**t, meeting Aino and Caroline is pretty refreshing: they could be the the humblest and sweet chicks you'll ever meet. Being that they're Swedish and so is WeSC, we are extra happy to have them as this issues cover.
With the last year being crazy for Icona Pop- or as they themselves describe it "The year when we haven't slept" - things aren't slowing down but rather the opposite. When this issue hits the stands, the girls are in Australia touring, after wrapping up the year of 2012 with a tour in the US with Maria and the diamonds, working on their new album, dropping singles, playing festivals and a lot more. We (Superlative Conspiracy) caught up with the girls while they were in LA for 48 hours for a talk about how this actually happened and what is happening now.
Danielle:What's happening with ICONA POP, what are you guys doing?
Caroline: It's chaos, as always. We don't live anywhere nut we are everywhere. We're working 24 hours a day seven days a week- but it's so fucking fun. It's almost too good to be true.
When did things really kick off for you guys, 'cause last year seems to have been pretty intense?'
C: We have't slept this year. Basically seven months ago it really took off. Before that we lived in london which was pretty tough and heavy period of time- So when we started to feel things happening and changing we just went for it, went all in. The number of gigs we had this summer was mad... It was around 100,one every day or every other day.
Sounds like a busy time....But it's all working out?
C: We finally found our crew, the right people to work with and it feels as if we have a great creative freedom- We have the last say in everything we do. It's the worlds best family of people that we work with so we guess that that is why things are finally happening the way we want them to. 'Cause of the crew'
Okay, tell me more about your crew.
C: first of all it's our home record label TEN. Then it's the two of us, Fredrik {Etoall} we found on the road (Photographer of the front cover and snapped of all madness and mayhem. not to mention he is the girl's best friend.) It's Oskar, it's artists company 10, Adis & Henke, Elof Loelv our head producer, Tove Lo who we write with...
Aino: All these are the people that we've known for a long time, since Icona Pop started really.
C: And then it's our label that we have in the US they are so F****** good and understand us completely. They ask us what we want to do and how we want to do it which is a rare thing.

Empire State Of Mind: Jamal Edwards

Voice Online have done a fantastic interview with the one and only Jamal Edwards from SBTV. That we thought we'd share with you all, check out the Voice Online's website
AT 22, he's reportedly worth £6m, owns 100 per cent of his company and can list fellow business mogul Richard Branson as a friend, but for SB.TV founder Jamal Edwards the recipe's simple.

jamal and richard

“Self-belief is the main ingredient,” he says.

“I'm a rebel at heart. When people say 'no' I do it anyway because I know I can. That's why self-belief is so important. Of course I get worried when I launch something new. I wonder if it will connect with my audience, but it's important not to dwell on that and go full steam ahead.”

It's this defiant mantra that has seen the media mogul go from a humble fashion shop assistant to the CEO of the UK's leading online youth broadcaster. Dubbed the 'Simon Cowell of grime music', Jamal founded SB.TV, named after his rapping moniker Smokey Barz, in 2006 as a platform to push the UK grime scene.

The online channel, which also hosts lifestyle interviews and event coverage, now boasts over 130 million YouTube hits, 215,000 channel subscribers and is arguably the place to be if you're an aspiring or established act.

In 2011, the channel was taken to new heights after Jamal's incredible 'rags to riches' journey was featured in a prime-time advert for Google Chrome. Sandwiched between segments of the popular ITV 1 show, The X Factor, the businessman's meteoric rise was documented for all to see.
Close to one million people googled ‘Jamal Edwards’ following its airing and the subsequent traffic surge crashed the SB.TV website.

“That has to be one of my career highlights,” the west Londoner, who earlier this year signed a deal with Sony RCA making him CEO of his own music company, Just Jam Records, says.

“The advert was broadcast when [boy band] One Direction performed on The X Factor, which was great. It was all over the TV and that was a big moment for me. At the time Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga were the only ones to have done one, so I was in good company.”

His story is inspirational enough to awaken hope in any pessimist but, according to the astute businessman we’ve only read the first chapter. Jamal is keen to keep evolving, recently adding a fashion and comedy channel to his already impressive portfolio.

“I know I started in music, but I've branched into comedy and fashion now. People will ask, 'What makes you think you're going to do it? And I'll be like, 'why not?' I'll apply the same mentality that I apply to music and replicate it in other areas and hopefully build those as strong as the music channel.”

More recently, he stepped out from behind his beloved SB.TV camera and in front of another when he made his acting debut in online drama, Steffi. The series, based on best-selling novel The Overnight Fame of Steffi McBride by Andrew Croft, also stars Sugababe Jade Ewen and Jasmine Breinburg, who had a starring role in last year's Olympic opening ceremony.

Taking on the role of Pete, a “laid-back and funny” character, which he describes as “like me in real life”, Jamal plays the love interest of the lead protagonist. “[The role] is pretty cool. It's not like someone acting like a bad man, it just seemed right.”.

He admits that he was nervous about how his new venture would be received by his army of fans, who are only used to seeing the mogul starring in adverts and cameos in music videos as himself. “At first I was like, 'What am I doing? But in the end I just did it. As long as I've known myself, I have never given up on opportunities, I just take them. Plus, it's another thing I can tick off my bucket list.”

Calling on the help of his singing star mother Brenda Edwards, who many will remember from the second series of The X Factor in 2005 and currently starring in West End musical We Will Rock You, Jamal learned many valuable tricks of the trade.

“My mum was great. She helped me get the character right. We'd practice minutes before she was due on stage. She'd take my script away and make me recite my lines to her. She also told me to record my lines and play them over and over again.”

Steffi was broadcast on YouTube channel ThisIsDrama on March 15 and a relieved Jamal says he was inundated with positive feedback.

“I had a lot of people say, 'I didn't know you could act.' I haven't had any bad comments yet.” On how he generally deals with the not-so-nice remarks, he merely points out, “I know for all of the positive feedback I get, if I can't take negative feedback, there's no point in looking at the positive. It's not a perfect world out there.”

Although he hasn't ruled out future acting roles, Jamal says his new-found vocation will not take over from his duties at SB.TV, which he says is and will always be his “main concern”.

“Everything else is just secondary,” he affirms.

He vows to use the popular platform to inspire the younger generation, recently joining forces with Channel 4 to offer a 12-month paid apprenticeship at SB.TV. Jamal, who recently returned from an “eye-opening” visit to South Africa for Comic Relief, adds:

“There are so many young people out there who are finding it hard to find work. Anything I can do to help young people out, I'll do.”

And when all is said and done, what does he want to be remembered for?

“I want them to say 'he always believed in himself'” To watch episodes of Steffi, visit: www.youtube.com/thisisdrama Follow @JamalEdwards on Twitter

Hope you guys and girls feel as inspired as we do, anything is possible and anything can happen and let's face it if you don't you won't.
